Our Principal Alex Asman has never been scared of a challenge and although this is a mighty step out of her comfort zone, Xela College of Design is not only going national in 2016, but also introducing a second course of study – Interior Design which will be run by the talented Ansje Serfontein of the Getting Creative Design Studio.
January 2016 will see the launch of the Xela College of Design – Fashion & Interior Stellenbosch Campus. This small private College with its international City & Guild accreditation is going places fast. Since taking over the fashion college some 7 years ago, when it had a handful of students and no real structured syllabus, Asman has slowly but surely built a strong reputation for excellence and commitment to quality education in the world of fashion design.
Xela College of Design is going places, moving beyond the borders of the beautiful Lowveld city of Mbombela and Stellenbosch is only the first stop. Come 2017 Alex Asman has her eye on several other smaller centres throughout South Africa. With rising accommodation and living costs, many students are looking for institutions closer to home. Studying fashion or interior design is not readily available at many of the bigger tertiary institutions. Asman has recognized a gap in the market and is going for it.
Alex Asman and Xela College of Design is a force in motion. At present there are no Interior Design courses in either Mbombela or Stellenbosch. Read more on this dynamic duo’s partnership here New Beginnings
Asman freely admits she is nervous, but she also has an abiding trust and faith in her own instincts. Watch this space – Xela College of Design is on the move 🙂
